Dangerous Minds | Jefferson Airplane Loves You

The Smothers Brothers grew up on Governors Island in NYC harbor it’s reported. Then President Clinton offered it back to the city for $1m US Congress wanted $500m at least. P. Reagan last met P. Gorbachev there. It’s coming along, some want Fort Williams, in the round, where a young Walt Disney was once held AWOL before ambulance duty I was told working archeology, as a Shakespeare Theatre. I think it’s a good idea and with the new multi-source computer audio a great idea, a friend has a quad Doors record I’d like to hear.

Sorry I meant $1 dollar! Finally P. Bush signed it over

The monarchy is reduced to this folly : Pharyngula

The monarchy is reduced to this folly : Pharyngula

When visiting Latvia, a young woman slapped Prince Charles with a rose and stated that he was responsible for 9/11 which had just occurred. I was watching it at lunch at the Picatinney Arsenal in NJ, testing an old rocket assembly center, just having worked in Bridgewater, NJ where a large Johnson and Johnson wound research center had been closed by an “anthrax letter” reported in the local press, clearance archeology testing there for flood control of the Raritan River, creating wetlands as buffers for flooding, after a number of devastating floods. After that it was onto West Point Military Academy, testing where Hurricane Floyd had knocked down many trees requiring removal. In a sense, the British were just as responsible as we, invading Afghanistan that terrible week of attack and anthrax panic, he a symbol of government. Sometimes a rose, is a rose, is a rose, sometimes a “war” in England.

Save the Whales

leave a comment »

Ms. Medina,

I am wholly opposed to the International Whaling Commission proposal to legalize the whale hunts by Norway, Iceland, and Japan and open the largest whale sanctuary — the Antarctic — to legal whaling.  I urge you in your power as the U.S. delegate to the IWC to vote no on the proposal.

The way to protect whales is to enforce the ban on whaling that has been in place for 24 years, not to legalize the practice of inhumanely blasting them with exploding harpoons. Whales are facing increased threats from climate change, overfishing, and pollution — and they must not face a larger threat of hunting as well. Finally, giving Norway, Iceland, and Japan legalized whaling sets a precedent that other countries will want to follow.

Please be a strong supporter for whales and urge your fellow delegates to the IWC to also vote no on the proposal.

My family comes from the Bay of Fundy, Canada where southern US “right whales” keep a nursery and other mammal species are known, i.e., beluga, minke, harbor porpoise, and others, to the weir fisher folk of Grand Manan Island, NB. Fish-farming is a better business than whaling, most sink when harpooned. Guelph University recorded “right whale” DNA in the 1980s, will the hunters?

Offshore leases, parks, recreation and historic sites

leave a comment »

The offshore drilling leases were supposed to provide a source of revenue for the people of the US to use in recreation, i.e., parks and other outdoor activity, the return on the sale the “people” expected, for the profitable use of our offshore property. Guess what? Not a penny! Congress has taken the lease revenues for other uses and it’s now thought beyond realistic payback without dire consequences. It should be “reined in” and until it is, no new leases!

2010 Pulitzer Prizes: Good News

leave a comment »

It’s too bad they haven’t given it to a foreign press covering the US. on WNBC4.4 in NYC is very interesting and covered some of the foreclosure problems very well on-air and online. There’s a small monument to Joseph Pulitzer in NYC’s "City Hall Park" closed for at least five years after 9/11/01. Nearby is the sitting statue of Horace Greeley, who supposedly said "Go west young man and grow up with the country". Below them are the reputed and archaeologically tested remains of the first "Almshouse" in old New York and I sometimes wonder if its because "Newspaper Row" was nearby or Pulitzer preferred it there. For a list of New York Parks, and American historic sites, also to be closed, see "The Buffalo News"
